A Foodpanda rider found an innovative solution to deliver a customer’s food when faced with an unexpected obstacle. On 7 September, TikTok user Muqtasid Jun Jie shared his experience of delivering food to a customer’s unit in Choa Chu Kang, despite the path being blocked due to resurfacing work.
## Background
The rider was delivering an order from McDonald’s when he encountered a note indicating that resurfacing work was in progress. Upon reaching the customer’s floor, he found his path blocked by a worker and realised he could not access the unit through the stairwell. The worker informed him that the cement would take at least an hour to dry, leaving the rider in a predicament.
## Stuck
Muqtasid Jun Jie shared his dilemma with the customer, who lived on the second floor. After some quick thinking, he asked the customer if she had a short rope. The customer provided a silicon door seal about four to five metres long, which they used as a makeshift rope.
## Quick thinking
The rider instructed the customer to throw the “rope” down, but it took three attempts to get it back up to her. A worker who witnessed the situation helped throw the rope back up. The rider then instructed the customer to tie the “rope” to a clothing rack and throw the other end back down. He secured the food package to one end of the “rope,” and the customer hauled her food up to the second floor.
## Additional information
This incident highlights the resourcefulness and dedication of delivery riders who often face unexpected challenges. It also underscores the importance of communication and quick thinking in resolving such issues. The rider’s innovative approach ensured that the customer received her food promptly, despite the obstacles.
