Streamer IShowSpeed back in S’pore at Arab Street, gets free iPhone 16 & tries teh tarik

American streamer and YouTube star IShowSpeed took to Arab Street for a day of exploration on 24 September. During his YouTube livestream, he visited the Kampong Glam area, sampled local foods including a smashed burger from Smashed SG and teh tarik, and was surprised with an iPhone 16 by a fan. This marks IShowSpeed’s second livestream in Singapore following a failed attempt at Universal Studios Singapore on 22 September. He briefly departed for Johor before returning to Singapore to continue his excursion.

Background

IShowSpeed, known for his energetic and often unpredictable livestreams, is currently on a Southeast Asia tour, visiting countries such as Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines, and Indonesia. His visit to Singapore has generated significant excitement among his fans, who eagerly follow his adventures. His previous livestream in Singapore at Universal Studios was cut short, making this second attempt highly anticipated.

Ate local smashed burger and drank teh tarik

While exploring the shophouses at Pahang Street, IShowSpeed was handed a burger in a yellow box by a fan. The burger, from local joint Smashed SG, initially puzzled him, but after taking a bite, he exclaimed, “This is honestly… good!” The crowd cheered in response. He also visited a nearby beverage shop to try teh tarik, a popular local tea, and even poured one for himself, much to the amusement of his viewers.

Received free iPhone 16 from fan

During his walk through Kampong Glam, IShowSpeed was surrounded by fans seeking autographs. Around the 13-minute mark of his livestream, a male fan handed him a box containing an action figure of Luffy from “One Piece,” dressed in a Brazilian football jersey. Known to be a fan of the character, IShowSpeed was then surprised with an iPhone 16 from the same fan. He turned on the phone to ensure it was working and confirmed it was a gift, expressing his shock to the camera. The fan, Luqmaan Hakiim, co-owner of the SGFR Store, which sells exported food items, was behind the generous gesture. IShowSpeed left the area on a motorcycle as fans bade him goodbye.

Future implications

IShowSpeed’s visit to Singapore and his interactions with local fans highlight the growing influence of digital content creators in bridging cultural gaps. His livestreams not only entertain but also introduce his global audience to different cultures and local delicacies. As he continues his Southeast Asia tour, fans eagerly await his next destination and the unique experiences he will share.
