Da Bai, a stray dog believed to have survived a hit-and-run accident in Tuas, is now looking for a new home. The eight-year-old dog suffered facial fractures and was rescued by feeders on Aug. 5. Following an appeal for donations by Causes for Animals Singapore (CAS), S$20,000 was raised in four days to cover Da Bai’s medical bills.
Background
Da Bai’s story began when he was found with severe facial injuries by stray dog feeders during their rounds in Tuas. The feeders quickly sought help from CAS, which launched an appeal for donations to cover his medical expenses. The response was overwhelming, with netizens raising the necessary S$20,000 in just four days. This outpouring of support highlights the community’s compassion and willingness to help animals in need.
Gentle boi
Since his rescue, Da Bai has made a remarkable recovery and is now ready to join a loving home. CAS shared in a Sep. 14 Instagram post that they are seeking a fosterer or adopter for him. “Da Bai is good with people and is friendly with other Singapore Specials. He is gentle and mild in nature,” CAS stated. Da Bai is currently learning to walk on a leash and is comfortable being left alone at home, provided he isn’t hungry. “If he is, he tends to attempt to sneak food off the counter top. He loves food and treats,” CAS added. Importantly, Da Bai is HDB-approved, making him a suitable pet for many households.
CAS will cover cost of treatments for life
Recently, Da Bai had a health scare related to tick fever, prompting CAS to urgently seek a blood donor on Sep. 17. Fortunately, a donor was found, and Da Bai received the necessary treatment. CAS has committed to covering Da Bai’s medical care and food for life, including his tick fever treatment, sterilisation, and any other veterinary care. “We only need a lovely home that will allow him to enjoy his senior years!” CAS emphasised.
