Bukit View Secondary School boy kicked to the ground & jeered at by fellow students

A video showing several students allegedly bullying a fellow student from Bukit View Secondary School has surfaced online. The incident, which took place at the void deck of a block of flats, involved at least six students surrounding and mocking a student with a backpack. One of the youths kicked the victim in the back, causing him to fall to the ground. The video, recorded in October 2023, shows the victim remaining on the ground while the others continued to jeer at him.

The video, which has since gone viral, was not reported to the school at the time of the incident. The principal of Bukit View Secondary School confirmed that the school became aware of the bullying incident only after the video began circulating online. The school immediately checked on the well-being of the student, who did not report any injuries. The principal stated, “The school takes a serious view of such misbehaviour and will counsel the students involved as well as mete out disciplinary actions where appropriate.”

School’s response

The principal mentioned that the school is committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of all its students. “Following the circulation of the video, the school immediately checked in on the well-being of the student,” he said. “The school takes a serious view of such misbehaviour and will counsel the students involved as well as mete out disciplinary actions where appropriate.” Additionally, the parents of the victim have lodged a police report.

The Singapore police are currently investigating the bullying incident. The video, which shows the student being taunted and kicked, has raised concerns about student behaviour and safety outside school premises.
