Police investigations are still ongoing into the conduct of Workers' Party (WP) Chief Pritam Singh and Vice-Chairman Faisal Manap during a lying scandal involving former WP MP Raeesah Khan, according to Home Affairs and Law Minister K. Shanmugam. The investigations stem from a report issued by the Parliament's Committee of Privileges, which found that Singh, Manap, and WP Chairman Sylvia Lim had guided Khan to keep to her narrative even after she confessed to lying to the House. Khan had admitted to lying about a sexual assault case she cited during a parliamentary debate. The Committee determined that Singh lied while giving evidence under oath, which could amount to perjury, and that Manap's refusal to answer questions could amount to contempt of Parliament.
In February 2022, Parliament voted to refer Singh and Manap for further investigations by the public prosecutor with a view to considering criminal proceedings. The public prosecutor then referred the matter to the police for investigation. In April 2022, the police stated that they had gone through the evidence provided by Parliament and that relevant people would be contacted as part of the investigations into the possible offenses disclosed.
