Singapore's recent spell of wet and cool weather is expected to ease as sunshine returns this month, according to the Meteorological Service Singapore (MSS). The cool Northeast Monsoon conditions with lower levels of winds are expected to continue through the first half of February but with much more sunshine. Despite the return of sunshine, MSS warned that short thundery showers are still expected in some areas, and total rainfall is still forecasted to be more than average. Temperatures are expected to range from 24 to 34 degrees Celsius daily.
The first half of this month started with minimal rain and winter-like weather, with temperatures dropping as low as 22 degrees Celsius and constant rain in all areas of the city. The rain was heaviest on January 25 with 120mm recorded at Changi East, the highest daily total rainfall for the month. The forecast has received mixed responses, with some excited about the return of sunny weather and outdoor activities, while others prefer to continue bundling up to the rain.
