China ready to join forces with Russia to decisively defend national interests — Wang Yi

MOSCOW, February 21. /TASS/. Director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the Communist Party of China’s Central Committee, Wang Yi, met with Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolay Patrushev on Tuesday. According to Wang, China is ready to work with Russia to promote mutually beneficial cooperation in all areas and stand up for national interests. He mentioned a plan for further development of bilateral relations that was created during a virtual meeting between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin at the end of last year.
Wang Yi also emphasized the importance of working with "like-minded partners" to develop an international order that is more equitable. He praised the consultations of Beijing and Moscow on strategic security issues and their role in strengthening mutual trust and interaction between the parties. As the international situation continues to change, Wang stressed the need to discuss the bilateral and international agendas in a timely and in-depth manner, and to develop new steps of strategic interaction accordingly to provide guarantees for national development.
Wang Yi also recognized the important responsibility that China and Russia have as permanent members of the UN Security Council in maintaining world peace. The meeting showcased the close relationship between China and Russia and their determination to work together towards their shared goals.
