Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister of Singapore, Lawrence Wong, has announced that the theme of this year's budget will be "Moving forward in a new era" with a focus on post-Covid-19 recovery. The budget will be delivered in Parliament on Tuesday, February 15th at 3.30pm. The budget aims to help Singaporeans seize new opportunities, strengthen the social compact, and build collective resilience.
The budget will include updates to the $8 billion Assurance Package, which was announced in November 2022, and is meant to offset the effects of the goods and services tax hike. The budget is expected to also include updates to government policies based on feedback from the Forward Singapore nationwide consultation exercise.
The Straits Times will be offering live coverage of the budget announcements and real-time updates. There will also be a special-edition newsletter with budget highlights and a round-table discussion on the budget's initiatives and their impact on households, workers, and businesses.
